Sand Casting

Capacity: Up to 250Kgs

Sand casting is the most preferable method of casting for lower volume, large components.

The sand-casting process involves the use of a furnace, aluminium, pattern, and sand mould. The aluminium is melted in the furnace and then ladled and poured into the cavity of the sand mould, which is formed by the pattern. The sand mould separates along a parting line and the solidified casting can be removed.

At SCL, we follow the Co2 sand casting process. The moulding sand is mixed with sodium silicate (a binder) and Co2 gas. The sand mixture is packed around the pattern to form the mould. Once the Co2 is introduced it reacts with sodium silicate to form a hard mould which creates a durable and stable mould for casting.
